    • Excelente - gran historias que hacen que desee leer mas. Recomendaria a cualquier persona aprender a Español. Gran vendedor, volveria a usar.

    • Buena. Es adecuado y funcional para las personas que aprenden español. Sin embargo, las palabras fuentes que no me gustan.

    • This book is far from a beginner's book. It has quite complicated language and my Spanish friends have said that it is quite old fashioned too. I guess it would be as these are classics but probably not the best subject for a beginner. There are also spelling mistakes in the book as you will see if you compare the contents page to the title of chapters. Maybe this is something for an intermediate?

    • The stories and proverbs in this book are okay, certainly not scintillating, but then how scintillating can content written for beginning language learners be. The problem is that the Kindle edition is very difficult to navigate. Instead of having the English immediately after each selection, the Spanish breaks off in the middle of stories, frequently in the middle of sentences, in order to give the English translation of material that preceded the selection in question and up to the point at wh [...]

    • I'm sure this book is great for a good number of people but even it is too advanced for me. For someone just starting out in Spanish, this book may not be the best to begin with. A short story in Spanish is on one page followed by the English translation on the facing page. I found myself suffering from whiplash going from Spanish word to English word. I believe this book is more for intermediate beginners and not for novices like myself.

    • I really enjoyed the stories in this book. While a few were familiar fables, there also were some very unusual stories with different twists for endings. I especially enjoyed Por Qué Muchas Personas No Figuran en el Censo, a hilarious story about a poor census taker trying to get a straight answer from a chatty housewife. The last story about a train station guard revealing the deceptive nature of traveling by trains to a hapless traveler could be the basis for a Stephen King novel. I felt [...]

    • This book is perfect for gaining experience using Spanish. I would recommend it for the intermediate beginner. I wouldn't advise it for the person who is just starting Spanish. The material is varied and the stories are entertaining. You can accomplish reading it in "bites" and will not get bored with the material. I would recommend it to all Spanish learners.By Bakari Akil, author of  and

    • The stories are progressive in length and vocabulary, and my Spanish son-in-law says the translations are sufficient to the learning task. Certainly other learning material was required for me to progress, but this is a good idea done well.
